Be My Bug: Entering the Fantasies of Robert Morgan
The article deals with stop-motion shorts made by the British animator Robert Morgan and with the notion of fantasy as developed by Slavoj Žižek and Todd McGowan. Fantasy is a world constructed by the subject in which he/she solves the question of the Other’s desire (what the Other wants from me) and in which he/she transforms the deadlock of social reality prevailed by anxiety and the lack of the object into a narratively constructed world where desire is oriented towards the (impossible) object. As Žižek puts it, fantasy does not fulfil the subject’s desire, instead it shows him/her what or how to desire.
