Natalija Majsova, attempts to foreground the central thematic complexes of the study. From the image of space in science-fiction cinema to its different figures – e. g. utopia, the projection of the future, the image of the other, the child figure, etc. The review follows the structure of the presented work and puts a special emphasis on intertextuality, which is central to Majsova’s methodology. It is in relation to the construction of the genre tradition in Soviet science-fiction cinema and the consequent answers to it in Russian film production that the review finds the most significant elements of the considered study. Despite the technical emphasis of the book, the review concludes that we can still sense in it the original utopian impulse to travel towards the stars.
