Notes on film Mama

How to write about Vlado Škafar’s new film Mother (Mama, 2016)? The author of the article begins her reflection from the idea, that in art, the content and the form are inseparable, as without the form there is no content. This is the exact idea, that is to be found in films of Vlado Škafar which are comparable maybe the most to poetry. This indicates in the film also the author himself, as he places in the centre of the film a book of poems by a Slovenian poet Lily Novy. If the words on the screen in silent-era films were a description of the image, they serve in Škafar’s film to wake up the senses and create a special atmosphere.
