The text is devoted to the experimental film Bite Me. Once Already (1980) by Davorin Marc. The text approaches the film, which was made by the filmmaker biting on 8mm film stock, from three perspectives: by considering the biting and saliva on the film; by considering the way the materiality of the film is reconfigured when it comes into contact with teeth and saliva; and by considering how the biting and the materiality finally emerge as an image. The text draws on the concept of the “aesthetics of contact” as conceived by Kim Knowles and shows that Bite Me. Once Already reconstitutes film as an object – as a veil that shades the light coming from the projector.
