Resurrection
In light of the rise of new traditionalist and chauvinist policies and their ideological stigmatizations, especially of the position of women, the text reflects on the social functions of film. Slovenian cinema has recently produced a series of films that can be called the “new wave”; they involve very different and heterogeneous approaches, poetics, and genres, and their most common feature is that they were created by women. Thus, the recent film production can have profound social consequences and, by its very existence, signifies a rebellion against new forms of reactionary domination, which are far from being overcome, but are becoming stronger.
