Dwarf or Riches? Theory of Genre Film
Genre Film Festival Kurja Polt celebrates and showcases – often for the first time in Slovenia and on celluloid – that wonderfully bizarre, daring and wild field of film expression, ethics and aesthetics, that carries labels such as genre, cult, off mainstream, exploitation, B film, parafilm, camp. Some of them are film orphans and bastards without origins, others are withheld, overlooked, forbidden films of great authors. All of them make for a film subculture with its own credo, its own appearance, its own cult of fans and its own eternal spot in the margin of canon, from where they fight against conventionality and conformism of popular culture, against social, political and film status quo.
