The article compares the mechanisms of the two closed patriarchal systems presented in the films Quit Staring at My Plate (Ne gledaj mi u pijat, 2016) and God Will Not Help (Bog neće pomoći, 2025) by Croatian director Hana Jušić. It explores how these systems impact the protagonists of the films, leading to an internal conflict caused by internalised patterns and behaviours. Finally, it examines how Jušić’s sophomore feature offers a resolution to the conflict through the idea of solidarity.
