Lesbian Film Identity and Desire and Fear of the Lesbian Vampires

This analysis focuses on the representation of lesbian identity and desire in European film and a comparison between heterosexual and lesbian context. I ask the following question: are there negative consequences of historical depictions of lesbians in subsequent periods? How are historically negative depictions of lesbians manifested in contemporary film? I note how the negative consequences of social discourse on lesbianism brought about a 60-year period of lesbian vampire films. Moreover, lesbians were still killing other lesbians on the film screens after the period of vampire films has ended. This is elaborated with examples relating to the unconscious lesbian desire.
