Marko A. Kovačič. Dramaturgy of the Gaze

Marko A. Kovačič is considered a multimedia and interdisciplinary artist. His practice is not about distinguishing areas, disciplines, forms, means, techniques, tools and genres, but rather about a kind of integrated art in which artistic and research languages intertwine and mutually (media-wise) produce meaning in a common constellation. The text has been created after the showing of his forty-year film and video oeuvre entitled The Lost Horizon at the Slovenian Cinematheque in 2022 and 2023. It tries to shed light on how, in his artistic practice, visual and performative practices were connected with moving images (film, video) and what relationships and synergies this led to.
