Second Chance
In Claire Denis’ recent feature film with the meaningful title High Life (2018), society conducts an experiment. The story, which has a fragmentary subject and quite non-suggestively intertwines the present, the past and the future, is about an unusual punishment for a group of criminals – in the name of science, humanity sends them on a space expedition to find alternative sources of energy. The article discusses the recent feature by the French cineaste through the prism of the architectural idea of a space prison, touching on the question of the film’s genre.
