The Social Reception of Adolescence

The article explores the social effects and reception of problem-driven teen series based on the Netflix series Adolescence (2025), which has become a sensation in a relatively short time due to it addressing the current issues of toxic masculinity, incels and violence. Through the character of the young murderer Jamie, the series shows the influences that society has on adolescents and so the responses to the series have been intense, often moralistic and one-sided.
