Cinematic Milestones: Stories from the Chestnut Woods

Stories from the Chestnut Woods (Zgodbe iz kostanjevih gozdov, 2019) was the grand winner of this year’s Festival of Slovenian Film (Festival slovenskega filma), where it received 11 awards and was characterised as a milestone in the history of Slovenian cinema. The article takes a closer look at the film and some of the labels it received after its premiere, while trying to answer the question in what way this specific work differs from its predecessors.
