Cristina Pinto, Daughter of Naples
After Cristina Pinto, a former member of the Camorra, is released from prison, where she had served a long sentence, the film director starts to follow her with his camera, using the fly-on-the-wall documentary technique. Daughter of Camorra (2018) delves into the influence of the mafia in Campania; however, the film avoids the factual approach and focuses exclusively on the intimate family relations. With the help of Roberto Saviano’s Gomorrah, the article tries to highlight the social, geographical and historical circumstances that have marked Cristina’s life and thus understand the intertwinement of identities that Daughter of Camorra explores.
