A Week with Azar (Yek hafteh ba azar, 2018) by Iranian filmmaker Tara Najd Ahmadi depicts how Trump’s Executive Order 13769, commonly known as the travel ban, affected the life of Azar, an Iranian computer engineer who lives and works in the USA. The article discusses the filmmaker’s distinctive personal approach to everyday life stories, which she contextualizes in the scope of broader political events and presents them in the form of a video diary. The collage of imagery is also pervaded by the sense of being an immigrant and living far from home as an artist, which is even more apparent in the short film Productive Frustration (2016).
