Introduction through the Senses to a New Theory of Film
This writing was triggered by the intention to write a book review of the translation of Elsaesser and Hagener’s Film Theory: Introduction through the Senses. But a closer reading of the book “produced” much more text than is usual for a book review. Since the book is certainly very important as a basis for appropriating the latest findings of film theory and as an excellent introduction for the educational needs at higher levels of learning, it is not superfluous for this journal to devote more attention to it. The reviewer concludes his reading and interpretation of the book with the assertion that the book already represents the first sentence of a newly invented theory of film.
