The article focuses on editing and editors as the key co-creators of films. Due to the great influence of the auteur theory, the contribution of editors to the art of film has been poorly researched. A closer look at the history of overlooked film professions, in which women tend to find themselves in greater numbers, shows that we need a certain revision of their role in the evolution of film. A complete lack of records about female editors and other female filmmakers, as well as their contributions to Slovenian cinema, can also be observed in Slovenia. Milka Badjura, Darinka Peršin and Marija Fajdiga Pirkmajer are three editors and important film pioneers that left a significant mark on Slovenian filmmaking in the decades after World War II.
