The Development of the Actor’s Feeling for Improvisation: Lee Strasberg’s Method
The article presents Strasberg’s Method in connection to the development of an actor’s feeling for improvisation in their role. It gradually examines the complex of exercises that are characteristic for this acting technique (relaxation, exercises for sensory and emotional memory, “private moment” exercise, “song and dance” exercise etc.) and improvisation as a way of rehearsing the acting and the role. The work of Vajevec Brothers Actors Studio in Ljubljana, which follows the ideas of Strasberg and where Slovenian actors can learn about the Method, is also described.
