The text examines the attitude towards the industrialisation of agriculture in Old and New/ The General Line (Staroe i novoe / General’naja linija, Sergei Eisenstein, 1929) and Our Daily Bread (Unser täglich Brot, Nikolaus Geyrhalter, 2005). It also underlines the moralizing tone in some of the more recent films on contemporary agriculture, which prevents them from being truly emancipating.
