Von Trier's Offshoring Of The Master
The article deals with the figure of the master in Lars von Trier’s film opus. The analysis of The Boss of it All and other films shows that domination operates trough the appearance of its absence. So what chance do von Trier’s heroines and heroes have to subvert him? They can not rely on a supposedly repressed instance, for it is merely an addition of a cunning repression. Rather, they must make use of the pure semblance produced by the master and turn it against him.
